‘K’ is for Kangaroo and Kiss

I thought she was going to love having the opportunity to put lipstick on and cover her ‘K’ with kisses. I was so wrong! She couldn’t stand the feeling of the lipstick on her lips and would instinctively wipe it off her lips immediately after I put it on her. She managed to do a few kisses but then she was just so done with the whole thing!

Easy Beginner Reading Workbag Idea

I’ve been working with Caroline on putting sounds together for simple words and she is totally getting it and able to read many of them on her own, so I’ve been wanting to put together some workbags for her and I to use together that will give her some practice and keep her interested. I found this idea of repurposing Lego Duplos into word building blocks on Pinterest. They are perfect! It doesn’t take that many because each block has four sides you can use. I used nine blocks for our basic three-letter-word set which gives me a variety of great combinations. I have three sets here, but you can swap out a red for another red and so on. I wanted to keep each word starting with a green (go) and ending with a red (stop) with the blue vowel being the piece that holds the others together.
Once she gets that down pat, we’ll try adding in what I like to call the “Blend-O-Matic”. (Hey, you gotta make it sound fun and exciting to keep them wanting more, you know?)

Our book basket is a little weak this round. The few other books I requested for “instrument” and “igloo” haven’t come in on time. Oh well.
